Description The Lifeguard ensures a safe environment in and around the pool area while it is being used by patients. The Lifeguard reports to the ROPES Instructor/Coordinator for pool related issues (functional guidance), and reports to Rehabilitation Services Manager for direct supervision. Qualifications Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Lifeguard certification is required. (Certification can be obtained through the American Red Cross, YMCA, or YWCA). Experience: Prior experience preferred. Knowledge: Stays abreast of current trends and advances related to pool safety and lifeguarding. Specials Skills/Equipment: CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification required. Physical Requirements: Must meet the basic health requirements of Kahi Mohala’s physical examination, including 2-step TB clearance. Must obtain and maintain current American Heart Association, Basic Life Support Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Must pass and maintain hospital approved management of aggressive behavior program. Physically and mentally able to perform all duties. Ability to rescue a submerged victim from at least 6 feet deep, utilizing proper life guarding techniques, and carry to poolside.
