REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE II, III-NURSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

At Hilo Medical Center, a nationally-recognized "Top Performing" hospital, the Registered Professional Nurse is a valuable member of our team. We are currently seeking a Registered Professional Nurse II/III for our Nurse Residency Program. This position is under the supervision of a higher level registered professional nurse. Nurse Residents receive orientation and guidance on nursing policies and procedures and nurse care techniques; develop and/or implement nursing care plans for assigned patients; provide nursing care, treatment services, and/or health education information.

This program is to provide entry level opportunities for new graduate nurses or nurses with limited hospital experience of one (1) year or less. The training is directed towards adding to your confidence and knowledge so that you can provide the highest quality of care possible.

Hilo is located on the east side of the island of Hawaii, and has a quaint old-Hawaii, small town atmosphere. The hospital staff is community-oriented. It is home to the Hawaii Community College, University of Hawaii, several excellent schools and convenient shopping.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a bachelor’s degree is highly desirable. Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g. official transcript of diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, Hilo Medical Center reserves the right to request an official copy.

EXPERIENCE: Level II: None required. Level III: Six (6) months of responsible professional nursing work experience, where the employee independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital, or institution.

SUBSTITUTION: Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for all of the required experience. Submit copy of master’s degree with the application.

CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) must be obtained within one (1) month of employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred. Please submit copy of certification with the application.

LICENSURE: RPN II: Evidence of licensure is required upon hire.

RPN III: Evidence of RN licensure is required with application. Possession of Hawaii RN nursing license required upon hire

Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays, based on hospital operations (services are provided 24/7)
