Full-Time

The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring that the cleanliness standards of the guestrooms, meeting areas, public areas, and back-of-the-house are met through the optimal training, staffing, and supervision of labor, efficient management of operating supplies, and proactive monitoring of guest service scores and comments.

+ Fundamental Requirements:

+ Supervise the day to day operations of the Housekeeping Department.

+ Has attention to detail and seeks continual improvement for hotel cleanliness standards

+ Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the Hotel, including guest rooms, public areas meeting space, and offices

+ Thinks critically and objectively; has excellent problem solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions based on business demands

+ Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline all Housekeeping personnel according to Highgate Hotel SOP's.

+ Establish and maintain a regularly scheduled cleaning program (i.e. floor care, hard cleaning, mattress flipping, etc.) and maintain a detailed checklist for each position.

+ Ensure compliance to Standard of the Week training, using the steps to effective training according to Highgate Hotel standards.

+ Ensure compliance with all corporate Risk Management standards (SDS, etc.).

+ Manage vendor contracts (i.e. dry cleaners, window washers, etc.).

+ Prepare and conduct all Housekeeping interviews and follow hiring procedures according to Highgate Hotel International SOP's.

+ Develop employee morale and ensure training of Housekeeping personnel.

+ Inspect rooms daily, and ensure that some rooms are inspected with managers on a daily basis.

+ Ensure that public areas, guest rooms and back-of-house areas are cleaned to Highgate Hotel standards.

+ Conduct monthly and quarterly Housekeeping guest and cleaning supplies inventories on a timely basis.

+ Ensure guest privacy and security by correctly following Highgate Hotel procedures.

+ Monitor work orders and submit to Engineering according to hotel procedures. Follow up on work orders to ensure completion.

+ Conduct pre-shift meetings for room attendants and housemen.

+ Respond to emergency situations using information contained in Keep SDS current and easily available.

+ Review Housekeeping staff's worked hours for payroll compilation and submit to Accounting on a timely basis.

+ Prepare employee schedule according to business forecast, payroll budget guidelines and productivity requirements.

+ Maintain Highgate Hotel SOP's regarding purchase orders, vouchering of invoices and checkbook accounting.

+ Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees and other departments.

+ Ensure implementation of all Highgate Hotel policies and house rules. Understand hospitality terms.

+ Ensure sign off of all Service Standards by Position competencies for Housekeeping staff.

+ Monitor out-of-order, out-of-service, discrepant and show rooms.

+ Must maintain constant communication with Guest Services.

+ Maintain and monitor "Lost and Found" procedures and policies according to Highgate Hotel standards.

+ Establish and maintain key control system.

+ Ensure participation within department for monthly Highgate Hotel team meeting.

+ Focus the Housekeeping Department on their role in contributing to Revinate scores.

+ Monitor all VIP's, special guests and requests. Inspect all VIP rooms prior to arrival.

+ Review Housekeeping log book and guest request log on a daily basis.

+ Maintain an organized and comprehensive filing system with documentation of purchases, vouchering, schedules, forecasts, reports and tracking logs.

+ Utilize appropriate tools, (phone, computer, mobile device), for reporting and verifying room status.

+ Record all valet laundry for valet cleaners. Check and review incoming laundry at end of day to ensure all items have been returned.

+ Properly store, secure and issue supplies and equipment as needed to meet business demands.

+ Work in conjunction with the Director of Rooms to prepare the Housekeeping annual budget.

+ Responsible to cover housekeeping department when the Executive Housekeeper is unavailable

+ Partner with other department heads to find efficiencies and ensure operational synergy

+ Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

+ Education & Experience:

+ Minimum 4+ year's management experience, with at least 2 years in housekeeping management in a hotel or a related field.

+ High School diploma or equivalent required; University/College degree in a related discipline preferred

+ Experience working in a 4-star or higher caliber hotel required.

+ Working knowledge of Property Management system Opera preferred

+ Proven hands on management style and ability to lead through example in all areas is essential

+ Proven ability to successfully lead, train and motivate colleagues is essential

+ Strong administration, problem-solving and organizational skills

+ Dynamic, energetic, creative and thrives under pressure

+ Working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel

+ Previous leadership experience in other rooms division functions an asset

Physical requirements:

+ Must be able to work long hours when required, with a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

+ Ability to walk, stand and bend continuously throughout the day.

+ Ability to exert up to lift and transport up to 40 lbs.

General Requirements:

+ Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.

+ Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

+ Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

+ Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.

+ Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.

+ Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

+ Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.

+ Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

+ Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

+ Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

+ Perform other duties as requested by management.
