RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Inc. (DLS) is the largest locally owned and operated laboratory in Hawai`i. We serve the entire state of Hawai`i at over 40 locations, as well as Guam and Saipan. SCHEDULE
Regular Full-Time Position
Must be availableMonday through Friday from 6:30 am to 12:00 am and Saturday from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm.
Must be flexible with schedule changes to meet operational needs.
JOB SUMMARY
Transports laboratory specimens, reports, supplies and other items and serves as a representative of the company in the field. Represents the company in interactions with clients, patients, and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year driving experience required.
• One-year patient care, medical laboratory or equivalent public contact experience preferred.
Skills:
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both in verbal and written form.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team.
• Excellent customer service skills.
Other Qualifications:
• Must possess a valid State of Hawaii (or equivalent) motor vehicle license and a current, clean traffic abstract.
• Familiarity of local geographic areas preferred.
JOB DEMANDS
Communication Demands:
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and and correspondence. Able to effectively communicate information to internal and external customers in informal settings such as one-on-one and small group situations.
Typical Physical Demands:
Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities. Requires fine manipulation, simple grasping and firm grasping. Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, peripheral vision and depth perception. Requires talking and hearing up to 8 hours on a continual basis. Requires lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling items weighting up to 35 pounds on a frequent basis.
Performs the following activities on a continual or intermittent basis:
• Walking up to 6 hours
• Driving up to 6 hours
• Sitting up to 4 hours
• Standing up to 2 hours
• Climbing stairs up to 2 hours
• Getting in/out of vehicles up to 2 hours
• Bending up to 1 hour
Typical Working Conditions:
Work environment includes conditions common to a hospital/laboratory environment, including working directly with biohazardous materials, potentially hazardous chemicals and/or patients with communicable diseases. Works primarily in an outdoor environment, which will expose employee to varied weather conditions and climates (hot, cool, wet, and humid).
