JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Residential Support Services Supervisor or Ke Ola Pono Program Manager, Support Staff provide coordination of the residential unit assuring the safety and security of all residents. The support staff provides assistance with parenting or health problems and maintains program structure. In addition the support staff provides transportation and other support services as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED with one year experience in human services field.Valid Hawaii State driver license required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; able to travel by airplane.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor, talking on the telephones; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other work-sites; Ability to communicate via the latest technologies required for the position.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:Operates basic household appliances, children appliances/equipment and office equipment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:Most work will be indoors and occasionally outdoors. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Regular attendance is required for the position.• Complete assigned documentation duties including (but not limited to) chart reviews and documentation of client service hours.• Supervise all milieu activities and uphold all client guidelines as pertinent to the program that Support Staff is overseeing. For residential treatment, these activities could include (but not limited to) healthy room checks, contraband searches for incoming items, night time room checks and chore checks (meal preparations, child care etc.). Refer to program handbook for client guidelines.• Model, coach and encourage clinical interventions deemed necessary for individual clients, including positive parenting interactions and de-escalation techniques.• Ensure continuity of services through participation in shift change conferences, documentation of shift log notes and timely communication with supervisor for any changes in protocols or attendance.• Participate in monthly staff meetings with supervisor and complete all annual agency required trainings as assigned.• Model, coach and encourage assertive, respectful communication between residents and program staff.• Conduct drug screenings as scheduled• Monitor and document self-administration of prescribed medication(s) by residents. Complete medication administration training annually with Agency Nurse.• Provide transportation for residents as assigned.• Maintain accurate up to date inventory of all household equipment, chemicals and supplies• Maintain work area in a neat, orderly and sanitary manner.• Correctly and promptly follow specified agency procedures required for the appropriate handling of all Emergency Response Codes.• Maintain all certifications and credentials required by agency policy and procedures.• Nightly, accurate and consistent attention to, data collection of clients contact hour’s, program charts and binders that requires rotation, archiving, replacing or shredding, printing client certificates and chart reviews. • Knowledgeable and consistent with FSW duties.• Ensure that all client and program related documents are properly and securely filed before your shift ends.• Be able to monitor phone calls with new intakes and/or clients on consequences as per counselors written request. This at support staffs discretion depending on time and ongoing activities within the milieu.• Knowledgeable with tele-communication platforms (i.e., Zoom, hotspots, ipads, Microsoft Teams, etc)• Knowledgeable and consistent with Family Support Worker duties.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:• Performs other related duties as assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Able to meet basic standards of physical, mental health, and communication demands. Specified by State and/or professional accreditation standards applicable to this agency. Initial/Annual criminal background check, pre-employment, annual physical examination, CPR/first aid, TB test, and driver abstract compliance with agency policy are required.
