Accountemps currently has a long-term temporary position open for an experienced, organized Staff Accountant at a dynamic, growing organization in the Non-Profit industry. The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, review schedules for the reporting processes, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Budgets, and Financial Statements. This company offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded and the role is based in the Honolulu, Hawaii region.

- Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Partake in annual closing processes
- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
- Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
- Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

Requirements
- Experience with ERP systems
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- Spreadsheet and database capabilities
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
- High attention to detail
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Foundational knowledge in auditing
- Year end closings experience
- Background working with general ledger
- Demonstrated knowledge of Abila MIP
- Earlier work involving account reconciliation
- Financial auditing experience
- Month end closings experience highly preferred
- Adeptness in Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Financial auditing experience
- Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations
- General familiarity with Microsoft Excel
- Accounts Payable (AP) experience
- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
