SUMMARY Working at the direction of the Deputy Executive Director, the Membership & Giving Manager is responsible for fundraising and managing the day-to-day functions of the Membership & Giving department. This position will set strategy and execute comprehensive programs and activities to sustain and grow the number and size of donations and memberships. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement strategies for solicitation that will grow annual revenue from individuals and groups: manage all appeal campaigns, manage and monitor online giving initiatives, work collaboratively with other departments to advance fundraising goals and meet with funders as determined by the Deputy Executive Director. Oversee database management, gift processing, development and fulfillment of donor benefits, gift recognition donor correspondence and mailings. Manage a small team; hire, train, develop, coach and direct the work of all employees. Assist with new funder prospecting, including research, analysis of fit and proposal/grant writing. Work with Marketing/Graphics/Communications to develop strategies for M&G presence in all communications and marketing; oversee the M&G presence on PWF websites. Maintain an M&G presence and promote membership at all PWF events, including Maui Whale Festival; plan and execute membership events with a focus on cultivation and stewardship. Directly manage Run & Walk for the Whales and the Wild & Wonderful Whale Regatta. Maintain accurate and complete records of membership and donor communications. Prepare reports on all campaign activities and results. Monitor revenue and expenses for department and support the Deputy Executive Director with reporting as needed. Act as primary point of contact for all membership and giving inquiries. Assist with other duties as requested.QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and at least three years of membership/fundraising experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience leveraging social media to generate membership, fundraising, event participation, etc. Demonstrated track record of developing successful fundraising strategies. Superior writing skills, including direct mail appeals, e-appeals, writing for the web and social media. Ability to initiate and build relationships with members, donors, vendors, coworkers and community leaders. Excellent communicator and creative thinker with the ability to use data to inform decisions. Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office, email marketing and donor management software. Experience with budgeting and planning. Highly motivated and energetic with the ability to show initiative and work independently.
