OB/Gyn Physician (Big Island) - Queen's Health Systems (Hawaii)
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The OB/GYN Staff Physician is responsible for the delivery of high-quality, effective medical and surgical care to obstetrical and gynecologic female patients of NHCH.
• The OB/GYN concentrates on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of health problems, focusing on ailments specific to the female anatomy, such as breast and cervical cancer, urinary tract and pelvic disorders, and hormonal disorders.
• The OB/GYN embraces a collaborative practice model with Family Practice Obstetricians and certified nurse midwives.
• The OB/GYN performs assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of NHCH, supporting our mission, vision, and values to optimize the health status of our patients.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, and reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Frequent: standing, walking, sitting, stopping/bending, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, and frequent gripping of an object.
• Occasional: twisting body, lifting and pushing/pulling.
• Operates a variety of medical equipment, computer, telephone, and pager.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious agents is an occupational risk; therefore, standard safety regulations must be maintained to avoid contamination.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or ECFMG certification.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
• Board certified or board eligible in OB/GYN medicine. If board eligible, must become board certified with in the time frames established by the medical staff bylaws.
• Current BLS and NRP certification.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
• Demonstrated history of proficiency in the delivery of obstetrical and gynecological medical and surgical care to patient of all ages.
• During the period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the NHCH medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.
• Qualified for an appointment on the faculty of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
