POSITION SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision the candidate will be responsible for independently performing assignments in support of the PMRF project through verbal instruction, written work orders, drawings, sketches, and blue prints while complying with federal, state, local codes and Koa Lani/PMRF procedures/safety requirements.

Major Job Activities:

+ Task assignments will include, but not be limited to, repair, alteration, new construction/installation of buildings, interior/exterior structures, and architectural components

+ Activities will include but are not limited to wall coverings, floor coverings, roofs, framing, windows, doors, lock systems, ceiling systems, stairs, fastening systems, and concrete forming and finishing

+ Responsible for maintaining work order documents, timecards, property records, HAZMAT inventories, and safe guarding Government/company owned equipment/tools

+ Utilize tools of the trade, such as, but not limited to, radial arm, table, miter, circular, panel and band saws, thickness planners, jointers, drill presses, and various portable hand and power tools

+ Provide guidance to employees at lower classifications that are assigned to the Carpenter Shop

+ Candidate must be able to effectively communicate and relate on a professional manner with customers and coworkers

+ The candidate must be experienced and skilled in safely working on aerial platforms and roofs and have attended fall protection classes

+ The candidate will assist the section Supervisor with developing the A02E Weekly Work Plan

+ In addition to the above, performs other tasks as directed by Supervisor

Qualifications:

Education:

+ High school graduate or equivalent

+ 4-year apprenticeship or experience

Experience:

+ 8 years’ of carpentry experience; 3 years at senior level

+ 4-year apprenticeship or experience

+ Knowledgeable of applicable DOD NAVOSH, Federal, State, and County OSHA rules and regulations

+ Experience in the installation of architectural hardware, framing, and finishing work

+ Experience in drywall repair, installation, and finishing

+ Must be experienced in the troubleshooting and repair of conventional entry locks, cipher locks and X07, X08, and X09 electronic locks

+ Must have experience with a sign making program like Sign Lab and be able to program the computer to fabricate various types of signs and banners that contain text, photos, and logos in support of various PMRF projects

+ Certified in asbestos maintenance work

+ Must have or be able to obtain a Hawaii State Driver’s License to include a Government driver’s license for fork lifts

+ Must possess the following PC skills: Microsoft Office Word and Outlook

Training:

+ Asbestos and Lead Awareness

+ Information Assurance

+ Confined Spaces

+ Respiratory Standard Training

+ Stairways and Ladders

+ Fall Protection

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
