Junior Data Strategy Analyst
Roles & Responsibilities:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team supporting a new and critical data strategy and analytics program. The position is located in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Relocation assistance may be available for candidates located outside of Hawaii.
The Junior Data Strategy Analyst reports to and assist the program’s Senior Data Strategy Analyst (SDSA) in all activities required to modernize the management and analysis of data within the Ship Maintenance Community.
The roles and responsibilities of the JDSA will be similar in nature to those of the SDSA but at a level commensurate with the knowledge and experience of the candidate. These include:
Assist in the stand-up (both technical and functional) of the Data Analytics Lab located at SMPG offices, recommend software/hardware analytics and data management toolsets, and recommend functional responsibilities for the other SMDAL staff members
Assist in the development of data procedures and policies, govern data assets, and improve the quality and access to data across the organization
Analyze and streamline the processes and technology for using data to manage ship maintenance operations, and draw valuable insights from data through data science and business intelligence
Assist in the implementation of industry best practices, selection of enabling tools and technologies, driving innovation, and contributing to new service offerings for our ship maintenance stakeholders
Assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure corporate data systems information protection, data governance, data quality, and data life cycle management
Requirements & Qualifications:
Required: U.S. citizenship and Secret clearance
Preferred: U.S. citizenship and Top Secret clearance
Required: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in computer science, data science, computational science, analytics, or related field with at least 5 years of professional experience in a data strategy, management, data analytics, or data science role
Preferred: Master or Bachelor of Science (MS) degree in computer science, data science, computational science, analytics, or related field with at least 5 years of professional experience in a data strategy, management, data analytics, or data science role
Required: Experience building and leading data management and analytics projects and initiatives
Preferred: Experience building and leading data management and analytics projects and initiatives for Federal clients
Required: Ability to concisely and convincingly communicate (both verbally and written) with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Required: Experience using data for descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
Required: Knowledge of big data technology infrastructure and environments
Required: Proficient in a broad range of data tools and technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL, SAP IQ, etc.), visualization/analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, MicroStrategy, SAP Business Objects, etc.), as well as machine languages (e.g., Python, R/RStudio, Java, C#, SQL, etc.)
