The primary purpose of this position is to perform multiple tasks and transportation of non-nuclear munitions and their associated components. Requires the use of tools, precision measuring devices and test equipment. It also requires the use of material handling equipment and motor vehicles in support of munitions maintenance operations.

### Responsibilities

Inspection and Maintenance. Troubleshoot, install, repair, overhaul, modify, rebuild, de-arms, and perform surveillance inspections and tests on high value, hazardous, and high risk non-nuclear munitions and their associated assemblies and components to determine serviceability, potential hazards, and possible deterioration. Repair deficiencies using applicable technical data, schematics, blueprints, regulations, and product data to conform to specifications.

Transportation, Residue, Storage, and Handling. Receives, stores, ships, transports, and handles non-nuclear munitions assets, components and training items in base stockpile and custodian accounts. Matches specific item identification by nomenclature, stock number, DODIC, condition code, quantity, unit of issue, and document number on containers.

Operations. Maintains munitions accounting functions in accordance with all applicable AFI's and regulations utilizing the Combat Ammunition System (CAS). Develops and maintains stock levels to ensure all required munitions items are on hand or due in to support the Wing mission in accordance with current munitions authorizations/allocations and requirements.

Control. Acts as a focal point for planning, coordinating, and controlling all munitions support on base and/or deployed locations. Using MC2K, tracks work order progress and assigns priorities in the event of conflicts. Informs Security Forces and Fire Department of explosives movements outside the MSA or of changes in magazine contents affecting fire symbols or controlled inventory item codes (CIIC).

Vehicles and MHE. Operates and maintains one or more types of motor vehicles and material handling equipment such as pickup, panel, and flatbed trucks with a typical gross weight of 10,000lbs or less on Base and public roads and highways. Operates forklift trucks and material handling equipment (MHE) to include mobile stock selectors and electromechanical automated equipment, such as automated storage and retrieval vehicles to move, load and unload, stack, and position munitions items weighing less than 10,000lbs.

Tools, Safety and Security. Maintains an aggressive safety, security, and Composite Tool Kit program following all applicable regulation. Inventories and maintains tools in accordance with composite tool kit regulations. Comprehends and applies all explosives and weapons safety standards, requirements, and precautions that apply to transporting, storing and working on non-nuclear munitions.

### Qualifications

**QUALIFICATIONS:**Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6600 Armament Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

**The screen out element for this position is the ability to inspect all types of munitions assets and their components.**

**JOB ELEMENTS:**Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of the theory, operating principles, and maintenance procedures of all non-nuclear munitions and their components. Knowledge of the combat ammunition system (CAS).

2. Knowledge of established safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and current legislative issues as they relate to military installation weapons and explosives safety. Knowledge of supply procedures, technical orders, and hazardous materials management regulations. Knowledge of the regulations, laws, policies, and procedures related to the US Air Force use of force policy.

3. Knowledge of munitions storage, disposal, and demilitarization procedures and procedures to determine storage locations based on compatibility, security requirements, and other determining factors.

4. Skill to inspect all types of munitions assets and their components, determine their serviceability, and search directives, diagrams, technical orders, and manuals to determine necessary repairs. Skill in the use of all tools of the trade, test equipment, blueprints, diagrams and test equipment to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, rebuild, and test non-nuclear munitions and their components to ensure product meets established parameters.

5. Skill in operating and maintaining electric, diesel, gasoline, or LPG forklift trucks with a capacity of less than 10,000 lbs. and a lift reach of up to 168 inches to move stack, un-stack, load, and unload munitions in and about munitions storage areas and vehicles. Skill in loading, arranging, and placarding munitions properly and safely onto all modes of transportation using appropriate equipment to secure load for safe transport.

6. Ability to safely operate and maintain a motor vehicle, including skill in manipulating controls for starting, stopping, backing, and driving vehicles in all types of traffic and road conditions and in judging overhead, side clearance, turning radius, and braking distance. Ability to analyze guidelines and maintenance modification orders to determine material, equipment, and personnel needs and to perform technical reviews of guides to locate discrepancies or propose improvement to methods or specifications. Ability to interpret and apply technical orders, blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and subjective materials specifications when inspecting, identifying, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling modifying, testing, and handling non-nuclear munitions and their components.

**Physical Effort**

The work requires moderate to heavy lifting when moving munitions by hand or hand-truck; walking and standing for prolonged periods of time; and bending stooping, pushing, and pulling heavy material on concrete or other hard surfaces. The work may require lifting and carrying weights up to 40 pounds. May handle heavier items with mechanical lifting equipment or with assistance from other workers. Work requires light to moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting forklift trucks and motor vehicles. Subject to possible strain caused by vibration of forklift truck.

**Working Conditions**

Work is performed inside and outside in areas that may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, noisy, or poorly lit. May be required to remove, repair, and check out equipment aboard aircraft. Employee is subject to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises from falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or toxins, explosive hazards, and chemical fumes while working with hazardous materials. May be required to wear protective clothing, such as hard hats, safety toe shoes, protective gloves, safety glasses, and face shields. Drives material handling equipment and motor vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions.

**PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:**Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
