**Job Description**
Westat is currently seeking motivated individuals with a commitment to excellence to collect data for an important study conducted for the Energy Information Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Energy. The Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) provides information about the energy use and energy-related characteristics of commercial buildings throughout the United States.
Field Interviewers will locate and contact sampled buildings, identify the best respondent for the interview, and guide the respondent to complete a self-administered online questionnaire or conduct a computer-assisted personal interview (CAPI) with the respondent, in an efficient and professional manner.

**Basic Qualifications**
Candidates must be:
•At least 18 years old.
•Available to attend mandatory in-person, out-of-town training April 2 – 6, 2019 in Atlanta, GA.
•Available to complete mandatory web-based home study training prior to in-person training.
**Minimum Requirements**
•Be available to work the field data collection period from April 7, 2019 – November 29, 2019.
•Be available to work 25 hours per week, mostly standard business hours but may include some evening and weekend hours, when work is available.
•Be able to meet physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations:
o Lift and carry 20 pounds of equipment and materials;
o Walk two blocks; and
o Climb a flight of stairs carrying while carrying equipment/materials to gain entry to sampled buildings.
•Be able to read and accurately interpret maps.
•Have strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•Have regular and reliable access to telephone service with a long distance calling feature, either landline or cellular.
•Have regular and reliable access to a secure high-speed Internet connection.
•Be able to travel locally to nearby cities (up to 100 miles away), if necessary.
•Have regular and reliable access to an insured vehicle.
•Have a valid (current) driver’s license that is not under suspension.
•Minimum of 1 year work experience.
**Preferred Criteria**
•Have prior experience as a field interviewer, field lister, or field supervisor on previous rounds of CBECS.
•Have previous interviewing experience, or experience working with the public.
•Have a bachelor’s degree.
•Have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
•Have strong reading, verbal, and written communication skills.
•Have excellent computer skills (be able to access the Internet, use a keyboard and touchscreen, send/receive email).
•Be comfortable using a laptop computer and establishing Wi-Fi connections in various locations.
•Have experience using Internet applications to find information, including GPS mapping apps.
•Be comfortable using a smartphone to make/receive phone calls, send/receive email, send/receive text messages, and use mobile applications.
•Be capable of establishing and maintaining good rapport with study respondents.
•Be able to convey importance of the study to respondents.
•Be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
•Be able to work consistently in an organized manner.
•Be dependable and adaptable in working assigned tasks.
Any offer of employment may be contingent upon receipt of acceptable results from a post-offer background screening, if required for this position, based on the specific position which may include, for example, identity verification, employment history, and/or criminal records history.
This is a part-time nonexempt position not initially eligible for benefits. This position is eligible for overtime pay. The rate for this position is the SCA rate and varies depending on the location of where the work will be performed. This position will also receive fringe benefit of $4.18 per hour, deposited in a 401(k) account.
