Evening Innkeeper/Host - The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls - Hilo, HI
Job Summary
We are seeking an outgoing, engaging story teller who has sales experience and is customer service oriented to welcome our guests in the afternoon/evening, host happy hour with pupus and drinks, and help our guests plan their adventure activities during their stay. The evening host starts work around 3-4pm, retires around 10pm to the staff apartment (on call for emergencies) and is relieved by the manager at 7am. We prefer candidates who have been on island for at least one year with no plans to leave, as we are growing and creating new opportunities for our team.
Selling activities is a key function of this job, but for someone who is a natural, it is like shooting fish in a barrel. We offer an amazing, life altering adventure right on property, and the offer access to all the common activities people come to the big island to experience. We strongly prefer candidates who have been successful in commission based sales roles, especially activities sales.
Responsibilities and Duties
Greet and check-in incoming guests Create reservations and take payments Sell tours to guests Answer phone calls Prep, set up, and clean up kitchen and lanai for Happy Hour Host guests during Happy Hour, offering pupus and beverages, planning activities Assist guests as needed Sleep on property in staff quarters, on-call for emergenciesQualifications and Skills
While hospitality experience is great, we are willing to teach you that if you are otherwise qualified and show potential.
We strongly prefer candidates who have been successful in commission based sales roles, especially activities sales.
We host guests from around the world, and as such, we strongly prefer candidates with foreign language experience. German, Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese are most common, but we are equally happy surprising guests from far flung places with service in their native language. If you do not have foreign language experience, please share some perspective on how your life experiences have given you a more worldly perspective.
Benefits
